If you’re looking for a midsize truck that’s ready to work hard during the week and disappear down a forest road on the weekend, this 2017 Toyota Tacoma SR is ready for whatever you have planned. The Tacoma has built a reputation around toughness, versatility, and adventure, and the SR brings that formula together in a straightforward truck that's easy to put to work.

The 2017 Tacoma offered a choice of a 2.7L four-cylinder or the available 3.5L V6, with the V6 producing 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. Both engines could be paired with a six-speed automatic, while the V6 was also available with a six-speed manual. Depending on configuration, the Tacoma was offered with rear-wheel drive or part-time 4WD.

And that's really the Tacoma's appeal: it's a truck you can actually use. The composite bed and integrated deck-rail system give you a practical place for everything from tools and lumber to camping gear and mountain bikes, while the Tacoma's rugged suspension and high-strength construction are ready for the kind of adventures that don't always involve perfectly paved roads.

The SR keeps the interior comfortable and functional without overcomplicating things. You'll find a straightforward cabin with fabric seating, power windows and locks, Bluetooth® hands-free connectivity, a 6.1-inch touchscreen, USB connectivity, and an integrated backup camera. It's the kind of interior that lets you concentrate on the important stuff—where you're going and what you're hauling.

There's also something undeniably cool about the size of a Tacoma. You get legitimate pickup-truck capability without feeling like you need a second parking spot just to bring it home. It's maneuverable around town, easy to live with every day, and still gives you a real truck bed when the project, camping trip, or weekend adventure calls.

And around the Pacific Northwest, the Tacoma feels right at home. Rain, muddy trailheads, mountain roads, camping gear, hardware-store runs, and those famous words—“Let's just see where this road goes.” That's exactly the kind of thinking that can turn a Saturday afternoon into an adventure, and the Tacoma is happy to come along.

The 2017 Toyota Tacoma SR is a truck with a simple mission: be useful, be capable, and be ready when you need it. Whether you're hauling gear around Tacoma, heading toward the mountains, or tackling the next home project, this Tacoma is ready to earn its keep.
