Car headlights help keep you and your passengers safe from mishaps and collisions while driving after dark. Because of this, faulty headlights should always be replaced as soon as possible. If you ever experience the following six problems, head to your nearest Chrysler dealer right away for new headlights

Dimming Bulbs

Whether you’re using halogen bulbs, HID bulbs, or LED bulbs, your headlights will eventually start to cast dimmer light. When headlight bulbs start to fade, it can be difficult to notice at first. But as soon as you realize that you can no longer see the road as clearly, have the bulbs replaced to restore your headlights to optimal brightness.

Flickering Bulbs

Sometimes headlights will flicker when they start to fail. The flickering light might be due to a loose or burnt-out bulb filament. It might also be caused by damaged wiring behind the bulb harness. If the light doesn’t flicker but begins to slowly dim and brighten in an erratic manner, then a faulty alternator or battery might be to blame.

Dirty Lenses

As headlights are positioned low down at the front of the car, the lenses tend to get splashed with muddy water and covered in dirt, snow, sand, and whatever else the road throws at them. This will eventually block the light but can usually be remedied by cleaning the lenses.

Cloudy Lenses

Headlight lenses can become more seriously damaged over time by over-exposure to UV rays in intense sunlight. The continual pelting of grit and little stones from the road also causes myriad little scratches that can build up and start to cloud the lenses. If your lenses are damaged to the point that they’re preventing full headlight brightness, it’s time to have them replaced.

Blowing Fuse

As with any fuse, the headlight fuse protects the headlight bulbs from sudden surges of electricity. The fuse can also be triggered and blown by a fault in the bulb itself or an incorrect bulb installation. If you find your car’s headlight fuse blowing more than once in quick succession, have a technician figure out and repair the underlying problem.

Unresponsive Headlights

Needless to say, if your headlights simply refuse to turn on one evening, you’ll need to have something repaired. In the case of totally unresponsive headlights, there’s more likely to be an electrical or mechanical malfunction than an issue with the bulbs themselves.

Ask Your Chrysler Dealer To Test Your Bulbs

You can ask a trusted technician at your local dealership to test your headlight bulbs at any time. Using a multimeter or similar tool, the technician can check if the bulbs are shining at full power or if they’ve already started to fade.
